the list is no mystery, it turns out. Stephen King plugged China Lake by Meg Gardiner in his Entertainment Weekly column and on his Web site. (In EW,
he wrote about the 2002 novel: "I mean, this woman is as good as
Michael Connelly and far better than Janet Evanovich." Another Gardiner
novel ranked No. 6.
